Mumps outbreak

Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones began his career in 2004 with the Swansea Rugby Club, which has been forced to cancel two matches in 2020 due to a mumps outbreak.

A Welsh rugby club - which once beat the All Blacks - has postponed a second consecutive match due to a mumps outbreak.
Swansea RFC - the first club side to beat the All Blacks after a 11-3 win in 1935 - has had eight players and a coach laid low by the viral illness.
They were forced to postpone a Welsh Premiership match against Aberavon on January 4, and also called off last Saturday's scheduled game against competition leaders Cardiff at Swansea's St Helens ground.

Swansea charman Stephen Hughes told Wales Online the situation had worsened in the past week.

"Aberavon were understanding of the position last week when we had two cases," Hughes said.
"The numbers then started to get a bit silly, so we put in a request to the Welsh Rugby Union to call off the game against Cardiff on Saturday. They replied on Thursday, agreeing the game shouldn't go ahead."
"We think we are on top of it and we've tried to be prudent and make sure we don't do anything to spread the disease."
A Swansea player, who is dually contracted to Pro14 professional club Ospreys, has been in isolation, according to a Wales Online report, and Ospreys are not allowing player exchanges until the all-clear is given by medics.
Swansea are currently eighth in the 12-team Welsh premiership.
Their list of famous former players includes current Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones and former British and Irish Lions stars Mervyn Davies, Scott Gibbs and Robert Jones.
Alun Wyn Jones made his senior rugby debut for Swansea in 2004 before joining Ospreys in 2006.

Swansea were the first British club to beat all three major touring teams. Their win over the All Blacks in 1935 followed victories over Australia (1908) and South Africa (1912).
