2019 is Marcus Daniell's fifth year playing at Wimbledon.

Marcus Daniell and Wesley Koolhof can be grateful that the men's doubles at Wimbledon is still best of five-set matches after a thrilling fightback on Saturday.

The Kiwi and his Dutch partner defeated Britain's Auckland raised Cameron Norrie and his Spanish partner Jaume Munar 1-6 4-6 7-6 6-2 6-2 to advance to the third round.

Wimbledon is the only grand slam where the men's doubles is still best of five set contests and there is growing pressure for it to go the way of the others and become best of three set matches, however Daniell wouldn't want it any other way after this two hour 50 minute victory.

Daniell and Koolhof never got going in the first set, losing the first five games through a mixture of unforced errors and great play from Norrie and Munar.

In the fifth game of the second set Daniell was broken again, which eventually resulted in him and Koolhof dropping the second set.

Both teams had break points during the third set but it ended up going to a tiebreaker.

Norrie double faulted in the second point of the tiebreak and from there Daniell and  Koolhof went on to take it 7-2.

Daniell and Koolhof went up 4-0 in the fourth set and never looked likely to lose it from there.

In the final set Munar was broken in the first and fifth games and the match was finished off with an ace from Koolhof, followed by beaming smiles from both of them and cheers from the Kiwis in the crowd.

Meanwhile, Artem Sitak has continued his run in the mixed doubles.

On Saturday he and his partner Laura Siegemund from Germany knocked out the No 13 seeds Rohan Boppana from India and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 6-4, with the finally coming from the fifth match point on Sitak's serve.
