Each episode of Smash Boom Best pits two topics or things against each other and the outcome of the debate is decided by a guest child judge.

OPINION: It's probably going to be cold and wet these holidays but indoor fun doesn't have to be limited to screentime. There's a host of great podcasts to listen to that can provide fun for all the members of your household.

Smash Boom Best is a debate-style podcast by American Public Media, who also make the science podcast Brains On! Each episode pits two topics or things against each other and the outcome of the debate is decided by a guest child judge.

Expect smash-ups like Unicorns versus Dragons, the Grand Canyon versus Mt Everest and super speed versus super strength. The kids are the real stars. They bring passion and energy to each battle and there's a good mix of history and quirky trivia. It's sure to liven up a rainy day in the lounge room or a long family road trip.

Overheard from National Geographic takes listeners behind the scenes of what conversations happen at Nat Geo HQ.

National Geographic has a new podcast that will keep your kids' brains entertained while they're off school. Overheard introduces children to the explorers, photographers and scientists who work for National Geographic. Each episode is less than 20 minutes long and these little learning bites explore the world of whale sounds, how rats adapt and thrive, and how lying can help cognitive development in the brain.

If you are into a good adventure story, the team at Gimlet really deliver with their fantasy adventure podcast Two Princes. The two main characters are Prince Rupert and Prince Amir, rivals who have to team up to save their kingdoms.

It's got everything required for an exciting fairytale; a curse that needs to be broken, magic and mystery, a secret prophecy, a kingdom to be saved and a love story. The podcast has a contemporary sense of humour, modern LGBTQ and youth themes, and a star-studded cast. It's a laugh-out-loud, charming adventure.
