New Zealand will face India in the Cricket World Cup semifinals after Australia fell just short of their chase to beat South Africa at Old Trafford, Manchester.
In the 45th and final round robin match, South Africa upset Australia by 10 runs in a high-scoring thriller which saw India sweep past into top spot on the ladder with victory over Sri Lanka earlier on Sunday (NZT).
It means India face the fourth-placed Black Caps in the first semifinal at Old Trafford on Tuesday (9.30pm NZT), with Australia playing third-placed England in the other semi at Edgbaston two days later.

Australia were set an imposing 326 to beat South Africa and retain their spot atop the ladder, but suffered another injury blow when Usman Khawaja retired hurt on six with what appeared a tournament-ending hamstring strain.

South Africa, already well out of contention, posted an impressive total of 325-6 thanks to captain Faf du Plessis who cracked 100 off 94 balls.
Australia's imposing pace attack weren't at their best, with Mitchell Starc taking 2-59 off nine overs.
