Netflix has purchased the rights to KJ Apa's next film, The Last Summer.
Netlfix has purchased the rights for the upcoming romantic comedy film The Last Summer, starring Riverdale star KJ Apa.
The New Zealand star, who first broke onto our screens as Kane Jenkins on Shortland Street, will star opposite 13 Reasons Why star Sosie Bacon (Kevin Bacon's daughter), who played Skye on the controversial drama.
Also featuring in the film, written by Madison director Bill Bindley and his brother Scott, are Maia Mitchell (The Fosters), Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), Jacob Latimore (The Chi), Halston Sage (Paper Towns), Gag
Bindley said: "I grew up on movies like Fast Times and Say Anything and those films became iconic in large part because of their great casts. We're really lucky to have this incredible group of young actors sign on with us."
Mike Karz, Bill Bindley and Wayne Rice will produce.

Apa, who celebrates his birthday today in the US, has just come off a high after season two with Riverdale, in which he plays lead actor Archie Andrews.
A third season of the TV series based on the Archie Comics is rumoured to return to Netflix in October this year, though nothing has been officially announced.
The 21-year-old actor has been highly revered for his role as Archie on the teen drama.
The Kiwi actor  is nominated for MTV's Best Kiss and Saturn award's Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.

He is nominated for a Saturn award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series, and an MTV Movie award for Best Kiss shared with co-star Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica.
Last year he was nominated Choice Breakout TV Star for the Teen Choice Award and the Saturn Award's Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.
He won Breakthrough Performance Award for the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films in 2017.
Last year he played Ethan in A Dog's Purpose.
During his early days on Shortland Street, he starred opposite Ed Sheeran.
